Sushi Bada in Cliffside Park — Is the Lunch Special Actually Worth It?
Finding good sushi in Bergen County that doesn’t cost a small fortune is genuinely harder than it sounds.
Finding good sushi in Bergen County that doesn’t cost a small fortune is genuinely harder than it sounds.
So when someone mentioned Sushi Bada in Cliffside Park, I went in with cautiously high hopes. Not expecting to be blown away. Just hoping for fresh fish, decent portions, and a space that didn’t feel like a rushed lunch counter.
Here’s what I actually found.

The Lunch Special — Better Than Expected
This is the main reason most people go, and it earns its reputation.
The fish was fresh — not “fine for a lunch special” fresh, but actually fresh. The portions were fair, the presentation was neat without being pretentious, and the whole thing felt like someone in the kitchen actually cared about what they were putting on the plate.
For the Bergen County area, where a decent sushi lunch can easily run into uncomfortable territory price-wise, Sushi Bada hits a genuinely satisfying middle ground. Quality you’d expect from a dinner spot, at a price that makes sense for a Tuesday afternoon.

Not a BYOB — And That’s a Good Thing
Worth knowing before you go: Sushi Bada has a full cocktail lounge.
If you’re used to the typical NJ sushi-spot-with-a-BYOB situation, this is a step up. The bar menu is proper, the cocktails are well-made, and it adds a certain polish to the whole experience — even at lunch. It feels like a place you could stay at for a while, not just eat and leave.
Already Thinking About Dinner
The lunch was good enough that I’m already planning a dinner visit for their Omakase.
If the quality-to-price ratio holds at dinner — and based on what I saw in the kitchen’s attention to detail, I think it will — it could easily become a regular spot. The kind of place you bring people when you want to look like you know what you’re doing without bankrupting anyone.
